83210 | Marriage No marriage record has been found for Jacob Baker, nor any indication of his wife's given name or surname. Based on their suspected children's ages, they must have married in the early to mid 1780's, probably in Rowan Co., NC. Children No record has been found proving who Jacob Baker's children were. Census analysis shows several children. It is probable that Phillip Baker (1780/1790) is one of them. The proof of that is very thin, but Phillip did live in the same part of Ashe County as Jacob Baker. That is really the only connection. Mary Margaret Baker (1790) is probably Jacob's daughter as well. First he did have a daughter her age. She was born in Rowan County at the time he was there. She married in Ashe Co., NC when he was there, and she lived on Beaver Creek same as Jacob. All circumstantial evidence, but quite compelling. No evidence has been found linking any other probable children to Jacob Baker. As noted census records show there were others, but who were they? | Family: Cpt Jacob Baker / ? (F1980)

83247 | No children of Benjamin and Anne Blackman have been proven, as far as I know, but the census records show they probably had several. John Blackman and Gideon Blackman are possible sons of Benjamin. Charles Phillips and Durwood Blackmon (deceased) list James, Samuel and Gideon as children of Benjamin. These three all went to Warren Co, MS. 1 Unknown Son (1774/1784) John Blackman 2 Unknown Son (1774/1784) Gideon Blackman 3 Unknown Daughter (1774/1784) 4 Unknown Son (1784/1790) James Blackman 5 Unknown Son (1784/1790) Samuel Blackman 6 Unknown Son (1784/1790) 7 Unknown Daughter (1784/1790) 8 Unknown Daughter (1784/1790) 9 Unknown Daughter (1784/1790) 1 Unknown Son born ca 1774/1784, presumably in that section of Georgetown District that later became Marion District. A child this age was with Benjamin Blackman on the 1790 and 1800 census. No likely candidates appeared on the 1810 Marion census. One possible candidate for this child is John Blackman (c1775/76). He witnessed one of Benjamin's deeds in 1793, and he was listed next to Benjamin on the 1800 census. The fact that John was head of household in 1800 is a flaw in this theory though, since it seems that all five of Benjamin's sons from 1790 were still with him in 1800, but there seemed to be problems with those two census records anyway, so that still may leave room for John. If not, then this child is unaccounted for. 2 Unknown Son born ca 1774/1784, presumably in that section of Georgetown District that later became Marion District. A child this age was with Benjamin Blackman on the 1790 and 1800 census. No likely candidates appeared on the 1810 Marion census. This son could easily be Gideon Blackman who witnessed a 1796 deed of Benjamin Blackman. Charles Phillips shared some data on Gideon. Gideon, who, like his suspected brothers James and Samuel, went from SC to Warren Co, MS. In the 1830's Gideon moved to New Orleans, and sometime later (before 1847) moved to TN. Â 3 Unknown Daughter born ca 1774/1784, presumably in that section of Georgetown District that later became Marion District. For the 1790 census, Benjamin Blackman only had one female listed, so assuming that was his wife, that leaves no room for this daughter. However the 1790 census could have been in error (very likely). A child this age was with Benjamin Blackman on the 1800 census. No likely candidates appeared on the 1810 Marion census. 4 Unknown Son born ca 1784/1790, presumably in that section of Georgetown District that later became Marion District. A child this age was with Benjamin Blackman on the 1790 and 1800 census. No likely candidates appeared on the 1810 Marion census. Charles Phillips has a candidate for this son: James Blackman (c1782-1816) who died in Warren Co, MS. He, along with Samuel (below), moved from SC to Natchez District, MS ca 1806 and was in Warren Co, MS shortly afterwards, where he died. 5 Unknown Son born ca 1784/1790, presumably in that section of Georgetown District that later became Marion District. A child this age was with Benjamin Blackman on the 1790 and 1800 census. No likely candidates appeared on the 1810 Marion census. One possible candidate for this child is Samuel Blackman who died in the 1840's in Leake Co, MS. Charles Phillips believes Samuel could be a son of Benjamin. It seems quite reasonable to place Samuel here. Samuel moved from SC (presumably Marion County) to Natchez District, MS before 1810. By 1816 he was in Warren Co, MS. By 1820 he had moved south to Franklin Co, MS. By 1840 he was north again in Leake Co, MS. Samuel named a son "Gideon" and another one "Benjamin" and another one "James" and one "Solomon". All these are Marion Co, SC Blackman names, and other suspected Marion Blackman's wound up in some of these same counties at the same time, so it seems reasonable that this Samuel Blackman is indeed a son of Benjamin Blackman. More proof would be helpful though. Â 6 Unknown Son born ca 1784/1790, presumably in that section of Georgetown District that later became Marion District. A child this age was with Benjamin Blackman on the 1790 and 1800 census. No likely candidates appeared on the 1810 Marion census. Â 7 Unknown Daughter born ca 1784/1790, presumably in that section of Georgetown District that later became Marion District. 8 Unknown Daughter born ca 1784/1790, presumably in that section of Georgetown District that later became Marion District. 9 Unknown Daughter born ca 1784/1790, presumably in that section of Georgetown District that later became Marion District. For the 1790 census, Benjamin Blackman only had one female listed, so assuming that was his wife, that leaves no room for this daughter.
