He was the son of the late Lonnie L. and Ella Kilpatrick Grant. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army. He retired after 20 years from Baker Furniture and was a member of the Briartown Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mildred Morgan Grant; a daughter, Vivian Douthit of Topton; a son, Steve Grant of Waynesville; three brothers, John Grant and Allen Grant both of Lenoir and Neal Grant of Marble; and one grandson and four great- grandchildren. Funeral services were at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 3, in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, with the Rev. Marlin McMahan and Eugene Taylor officiating. Interment was at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 4, in the Briartown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Shane Gregory, Barry Fuller, Gerald Dills, Doug Bryant, Alan Bolick and Sidney May.
