Austin Nichols, Sr,.
Boyd Nichols, Sr., 81, of Robbinsville, passed away Monday April 12, 2004, at the home of his daughter after a brief illness. He was born on March 3,1923, in Cherokee County to the late James Nichols and Minnie Morgan Nichols. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in W WII and was retired from the city of Hickory in the public works department. He was a pass resident of Burke County and had been living in Graham County for the past 12 years. He was a member of United Baptist Church in Valdese and attended Red Marble Baptist Church in Topton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rachel G. Nichols; son, Austin Boyd Nichols, Jr., brothers, Ray is and Carrel Nichols; and sister Elva Postell. He is survived by his daughter, Donna Nichols Mecimore of Valdese; son, Dickie George Nichols of Valdese; brother, Wendell Nichols of Morganton; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 15, at Red Marble Church in Topton. Officiating will be the Rev. Mickey Stewart. Interment will be at the Red Marble Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10-11 a.m., one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Pregnancy Care Center, P.O. Box 368, Drexel, N.C. 28619. Heritage Funeral Home in Valdese is serving the Nichols family.
