  !CENSUS:1930 * Swain Co, NC *; !OBIT:Ruth George (Graham Star) Ruth George, 84, of Robbinsville, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2006 at Britthaven of Graham. She was a native of Graham County and the daughter of the late George Washington Higdon and Dixie Dean Higdon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm George; daughters, Diane Peterson, Odessa Jenkins; grandchildren, David Peterson, Renee Edwards; sisters, Gladys Jordan; and brothers, Roy and Raymond Higdon. She is survived by her son, Edwin Dale George of St. Louis, Mo.; daughters, Marcella McRae, Glenda Bradley, both of Robbinsville; and her twin sister, Ruby Melaine of Florence, Ala. She had 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 14 at Sweetgum Baptist Church. The Revs. Daniel Stewart, Jack Millsaps, Harold Beasley and Kenny Ball officiated. Burial was in the Old Mother Cemetery. Townson-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
