(1) Her Death Certificate lists her as Tempie Allison, daughter of Amos Allison and Annie Bradley.
J. G. Stewart (her son) was the informant.
(2) son James Jasper Stewart's D/C lists her as Tempie Ellis. Informant, Mrs. Mary Stewart.
(3) son Jacob Govan Stewart's D/C lists her as Tempie Ellis. Informant, Robert Stewart.
(4) dau Margaret Kirby's D/C lists her as Tempie Warren. Informant Mary Frye.
(5) son William Noah Stewart's D/C lists her as Tempie Warren. Informant Tom Stewart;
(6) dau Cordelia Lands' D/C lists her as "Campa" Ellis. Informant W. A. Lands.
Tempie was married to Daniel Warren as her first husband, so that explains the "Warren" on some of the above. She was listed as Tempey "Warn" on her marriage record to Jacob Stewart in 1846, so that gibes. "Ellis" and "Ellison (aka Allison) are similar enough, so based only on above, I'd conclude she was definitely an Ellis, Ellison or Allison, married 1st to Mr. Warren, then to Jacob Stewart.
(7) However, and this is a big problem, she herself said her maiden name was Stroud on Civil War Pension papers for her husband's Union service. If she was a Stroud by birth, did none of her children know that? Seems unlikely, thus the quandary.
