!CENSUS:1820;
!CENSUS:1830;
!CENSUS:1840 * Six John Davis's in Burke and two in Rutherford. None are a perfect match for the family as of 1850.
Three in Burke are way too young, the other three in Burke:
Burke Co., NC p. 299 John G. Davis age 40-49 (1790/1800) 1200001-01101
Burke Co., NC p. 336 John Davis Sen age 50-59 (1780/1790) 01001001-00011001
Burke Co., NC p. 337 John Davis age 40-49 (1790/1800) 0001001-1120001
John G. (299) has numerous slaves, our John has none. His wife is too young.
John Sen (336) has no daughters the right age.
John (337) is a pretty good match, but he and his wife are ten years younger than they should be, if 1850 census is right. However, 1850 census may be wrong, and this may be them. Unable to match up neighbors from 1840 and 1850. John Davis wasn't a landowner, so probably moved around from tenant farm to tentant farm.
