(2) 5 Jul 1862 Company B, 7th Battalion, North Carolina Cavalry. Carroll M. PATTERSON, Private. Resided Towns Co, GA. Enlisted Clay Co, NC on 5 Jul 1862 for 3 years. Enlisted by Wm P. Mooore. Transferred to Company F, 65th Regiment, NC Troops on 3 Aug 1863.
(3) 3 Aug 1863 Company F, 65th Regiment, North Carolina Troops. Carroll M. PATTERSON, Private. Transferred from Company B, 7th Battalion, NC Cavalry on 3 Aug 1863. P/A through Dec 1863. Took Oath in Chattanooga, TN on 22 Mar 1864.
(4) Co. C, 5th Regt Tenn Mtd Infantry (Union). Filed for Pension (# 724973) 26 Aug 1889, declared invalid. Though rejected, he must have served. Family tradition says he joined the Union Army after 1864 and was disowned by his father and siblings over it. He is not listed on the rolls of the 5th Regiment Tennessee Mounted Infantry.;
