Notes |
- !NOTES:D/C of son Asbury Turner gives father as "Willis Turner" and mother as "Turner" b. Marion SC.
(1) Listing mother under her married name (even though certificate asks for *maiden* name) is a common problem on D/C's, but in this case perhaps it's correct since they only listed her surname and not given name, which is unusual.
(2) If Orphy is a Turner, that would explain how she and Jarot Christmas are cousins, as his mother was Catherine Turner (1800), perhaps Orphy's aunt? Orphy and Jarot lived together starting in 1870 through her death 1900/1910. She was listed as his cousin on the 1900 census.
(3) If Orphy is a Turner, then she and husband Willis Turner were cousins as well. Very common in those days for cousins to marry, even 1st cousins.;
