!OBIT:(From Marian Fox):
Spokane Hearld Newspaper says:
"GARFIELD, Wash., Feb. 1 - The death of Mrs.
Myra Melvin Grant this week broke the chain of five generations. The
accompanying illustration shows the five generations before her death. The
boy in the pic does not count in the five generations. To the right, and
seated, is MRS. QUEEN, born in Macon County, N.C., July 18, 1823. At her
right is her daughter, Mrs. Grant, who died this week. She was born in Macon
County, July 18, 1845. Behind her, and standing, is Mrs. Karfsas (?)
Virginia Prophet, born in Macon County, May 6, 1862. To her left, and behind
Mrs. Queen, is Mrs. Mamie Elizabeth Dickinson, born in Green County, MO,
April 26, 1885. The fifth generation is Hubert Lynn Dickinson, born in
Garfield, WA, April 7, 1905. The great-great grandmother holds her
great-great grandson in her arms. She is hale and hearty, and bids fair to
live to be 100 years old.
Please note Kansas (Kancy) Grant sister to my Dolphus Doolan , her name is
mispelled. The little boy in the picture is Wilbur Leroy Grant B1905, so
that must be when this picture was taken.
