"There is a death record for Amanda Avarilo Barnes, widow, who died 31 Aug 1963 Van Nuys, Los Angeles, CA. Her death certificate has her born 5 Jun 1867 in Tennessee, parents unknown, her last address 14530 ½ Delano Street and that she’d lived in county 44 years. Kay Blackner was the informant. This Amanda is buried at Glen Haven Cemetery.
The above record fits pretty well for our Amanda, though I can’t say with any certainty that it’s our Amanda Grant Barnes. I’ve seen the marker for this Amanda (on Find a Grave) and it lists her as Amanda A. Barnes 1876-1963. It’s obviously the same person from the death certificate despite the marker having 1876 vs 1867 for the birth year. The cemetery is in Sylmar, Los Angeles Co., CA."
