Ruth Nichols
Ruth Sherrill Nichols, age 86, of Robbinsville, went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 23, 2010 at her residence, while surrounded by her family.
A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth Wiggins Sherrill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Carrel Nichols in May of 1999; her grandsons, Cale Hill in 1995, and Dion Crisp in 1991, and an infant grandson.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Nick and Leta Nichols and Casey and Huelena Nichols, all of Robbinsville; her daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Claude Crisp of McDonough, Ga., Judy and Michael Hill of Dawsonville, Ga., and Margaret and Jimmy Orr, Cathern and Buddy Adams, and Nancy and Ricky Waldroup, all of Robbinsville; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25 at Bear Creek Baptist Church, where she was a lifelong member. The Revs. Lennox Hedrick and Wayne McGuire officiated. Her grandsons honored their grandmother by serving as pallbearers. Burial followed at Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 24 at Bear Creek Baptist Church.
