1. David STEWART b. ca. 1722.
Land: 1748 grant from Lord Granville 138 A on the Yadkin River in Anson (later Rowan, then Surry then Yadkin 1850) Co., NC. Surveyed Jan. 10, 1748-9. David settled on Swan Creek in old Rowan Co., before his parents came (Samuel & Lydia STEWART). He had a constable's beat on the north side of the Yadkin River from Muddy Creek (Davidson Co) upward. (Min. of the Court of Common Pleas & Quarter Sessions, 1753-1756)
May 9, 1757 a grant of 380 A on the east side of Yadkin River (river flows northeastward), Rowan Co.. (deeds 6:219). He sold this tract Feb 2, 1779 to John Lynch ( Surry Co. Deeds A: 261)
June 5 1781 bought 172 A for f200 from John Lynch on the south fork of Stewart's Creek in Surry Co., adjoining the lands pf Frederick Miller & Robert Lanier, orginally granted by Lord Granville to Edward Hughes. Wit: Edward Hughes, David STEWART Jr., & Abraham Potter. (B:126).
David may have been living in Stokes Co. 1790 : 2-0-3-0-5.
David STUART was surety May 4, 1791 on the marriage bond of Thomas STUART* & Prudence Busey, Stokes Co.. Some of this family perhaps went to Tennessee. Among David's children :
