WILL OF BENJAMIN BLACKMON

Charleston District St. James Goose parish. Be it known that I Benjamin BLACKMON of the said District and Parish being weak in body but of sound mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make constitute and ordain this my last will and testament in the words following Viz I do recommend my body to Almighty God who gave it and my Executrix to bury me in a Christian like manner and to pay all my lawful debts. Item I do hereby give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary for her only use and behoof all my real and personal property with the further ifsue and increase of the same and all my dues and demands including the amount of money that the Bank of the State of South Carolina is due me, and all my stock of horses Cattle hogs, sheep household and kitchen furniture, and all my plantation and farming tools waggons and every other article or implement that may belong or appertain to the same with all the provision and cotton crop that is now on my plantations. My lands consists of various tracts namely my settled plantation on the four hole swamp on which negroes are now settled includes the LISTON and MALLARD tracts the place I now live on called back creek on which my Saw and grist mill stands consists of two other tracts purchased of Thomas BLACKMON tow [two] tracts on briner branch, one tract on Sandy run branch one tract on powels bay and one tract on Wafsamaw Swamp caled purgatory there being more or lefs acres. [sic] The Names of my negroes are as follows Viz Monday, Risk, Quash Bosin Factor Gim, Clamel, Daniel, Solomon Bob Gim Jr, Sam, Richard Peter, Sippie, Rish Jr, Levy, John, [names Selah Suckey Peggy are marked out] and Tom Males. Glow, Mary Tenah, Ester, Rachel, Rose, Harriet Rittar Nelly Fillis Judy Selah, Suckey, Peggy, Dianna Betty and Amy females. I do hereby nominate and appoint my wife Mary BLACKMON the sole Executrix to this my last Will and testament Whereunto I have set my hand and seal the thirteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one.
