Ray Pullium
Ray C. Pullium, 94, of Andrews died Sunday, July 13, 2008.
He was a native of Cherokee County and was the son of the late Cross and Minnie West Pullium. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. His medals include the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4, after 30 years of service. He later worked for Magnavox in Andrews. Ray was a member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. He was a member of the Andrews United Methodist Church and his hobbies included golfing and gardening.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years Ruth Barton Pullium; two sons Ray C. Pullium Jr. and wife Helen of Alexander City, Ala. and Jerry B. Pullium and wife Kathy of Savannah, Ga.; and a granddaughter Jennifer Pullium of New York, N.Y.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17 at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Paul Hacklander officiating. Interment will be in the Moss Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Andrews Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7620. Pallbearers will be Bob and Joe Barton, and Joe, Bill, and Mark Mintz, and Jason Newman. Jack Mintz will serve as honorary pallbearer.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Ray C. Pullium to the Moss Cemetery Fund, c/o Don Cook, P.O. Box 243, Marble, NC 28905.
