  !Capt Meriwether Lewis along with his friend Capt. William Clark are famous for the Lewis & Clark expidition up the Missouri, across the Rockies, down the Columbia to the Pacific, then back again. Capt. Lewis was appointed Governor of Louisianna Territory by President Jefferson. Capt Lewis committed suicide at Mrs. Grinder's Inn on the Natchez Trace in Tennessee, about 70 miles from Nashville.
