Thomas Cribb (c1710) and Elizabeth --- of Prince Frederick Parish, SC

I (Marty Grant) could be a 6th Great Grandnephew of Thomas Cribb. That connection is based on some unproven family links, so it could be wrong.

Thomas Cribb was born ca 1710 or earlier, possibly in South Carolina. I base this date on his first known child being born in 1731, and on the assumption that Thomas was at least 21 by then. This could be off by several years in either direction.

It seems very likely that Thomas Cribb is a son of John and Elizabeth (---) Cribb who were in the area by 1717. It is not proven that they are his parents. It is possible that Thomas is a younger brother of John instead.

Thomas Cribb married Elizabeth --- before 1731, for in that year their first child was recorded in the Prince Frederick Parish records. (They might have had other children born in a different parish prior to this). I don't know when Elizabeth was born, nor what her maiden name is.

As mentioned above, Thomas Cribb and Elizabeth had a child born in 1731, as recorded in Prince Frederick Parish Records. However, shortly after this they moved (with his parents, apparently) to the Sandy Bluff area (Pee Dee River, present Marion County).

According to Leonardo Andrea, Thomas and Elizabeth were listed on a 1736 list showing them as residents outside of Williamsburg Township (Sandy Bluff was not in the Township, but not too far away).

Another child was recorded born in 1745 in Prince Frederick. This child and the one born in 1731 are the only ones recorded in Prince Frederick, so if they had other children, they were born in neighboring Prince George Parish, probably (which early records are lost).

Leonardo Andrea stated that this family moved to near present Georgetown (the town, in Prince George Parish) for awhile, but was back in Prince Frederick by 1758, though I'm not sure how he knew that record was for this same Thomas, as opposed to his son Thomas (1731) who would have been 27 years old in 1758.

That is the last record I've seen for Thomas Cribb. There were several other men named Thomas Cribb in the late 1700's and early 1800's, so the records get confusing in later generations.

Thomas and Elizabeth (---) Cribb had two children as proven by the Prince Frederick Parish records. It seems likely that they had other children, but I've seen no proof for any of them.

Thomas Cribb was born 25 Oct 1731 in Craven Co, SC (in either present Georgetown or Marion Co, SC). He was baptized on 16 Jan 1731/32 as recorded in Prince Frederick Parish records (his birth and parents names were also recorded).

It seems likely that this is the same Thomas Cribb who married Ann --- before 1761 in Craven Co, SC (now Georgetown Co, SC). See their own page for additional information.

Elizabeth Cribb was born 30 Dec 1745 in Craven Co, SC (either in present Georgetown or Marion County). She was baptized on 10 Aug 1746 in Prince Frederick Parish. Both events (birth and baptism) are recorded in the Prince Frederick Parish Records, and they also prove her parents names.
