I (Marty Grant) am not related to the Elizabeth Grant family as far as I know. I am very interested in her though.
Elizabeth Grant was born ca 1829/30, presumably in Wayne Co, NC. She is listed on the 1860 census as an apparent widow (or single mother). I think she is probably a widow, but I have no idea who she married. She had a 3 year old daughter with her in 1860, indicating her husband was still alive ca 1857 or so.
In 1860 she was in New Hope District of Wayne Co, NC where most of the other Grants lived. In 1860 she was only two houses from Jeremiah Grant (son of Ephraim Grant). It is possible that this is Eliza Newell Grant who married James H. Grant (son of Jesse Grant) in 1859, since they weren't found elsewhere in 1860, but I don't think it is them.
(Note: The dates at the end of each line are not part of the original census, but are approximate birth years based on age)

Sally Bunn, age 70, with Elizabeth in 1860 could be her mother. This may be the same Sarah Bunn listed in 1850 Wayne County age 55, with husband Jesse Bunn age 55, since I didn't find either of them elsewhere in 1860. The age is only off by 5 years, so that could be the same person. However, that family (Jesse & Sarah) didn't have a daughter named Elizabeth living with them, but they did have a Temperence Bunn age 17, which is close. However, more research will be needed to see if they are the same people.
