Revision History:

Daniel Hensley was born ca 1805/06 per his age on the 1850 census (44). He was born in Virginia, county unknown, though probably Tazewell County.

Daniel is a proven son of Daniel Hensley (c1774) and his firs wife (name unknown). This is shown on Daniel Jr.'s 1824 marriage record in Pike Co., KY which lists him as a son of "Dan" Hensley.

Daniel was probably with his parents in Tazewell Co., VA  until ca 1808 when they moved to what is now West Virginia living in Kanawha Co., VA briefly, then to neighboring Floyd Co., KY.

Daniel (Jr.) seems to be with his parents for the 1810 census in Floyd Co., KY aged under 10 (born ca 1800/10).

The family moved to Cabell Co., VA (now WV) by 1815. Daniel Jr. presumably went with them, though he doesn't seem to be living with them on the 1820 census, for they had no male children listed at all.

Logan County was formed in 1824 from parts of Cabell, Giles and Kanawha Counties. Daniel and family fell into the new county.

Daniel Hensley married Easter Coleman in neighboring Pike Co., KY on 17 Jul 1824. The marriage record gave his father as Dan, and her father wasn't named (probably dead) but her mother was given as Charlotte Coleman. Easter was born ca 1810/15 per her age on the 1830 census (15-19).

Daniel is listed on the 1830 census in Logan Co., VA (WV).

Daniel Hensley is listed on the 1835 tax list in Logan Co., VA, but it could be his father instead as only one is listed. Neither Daniel is listed on the 1837 list for Logan.

The older Daniel is listed on the 1840 census in Logan Co., VA, but I couldn't find the younger Daniel there or elsewhere in 1840. I think he was still in Logan, but missed for some reason. He may have been living with other relatives and wasn't the head of household himself.

Daniel Jr. is listed on the 1843 tax list in Logan County with one white male over 21, no blacks over 16, and no horses.

At some point before 1850 Easter Coleman Hensley died and Daniel married Margaret (---). She was born ca 1819/20 in Virginia (per 1850 census). I don't know her maiden name, nor when they married exactly. The oldest child at home in 1850 was only 4 years old, so I suspect Daniel and Margaret married just before ca 1846.

Daniel Hensley is listed on the 1850 census in Logan Co., VA, next door to Stephen Hensley (c1816), relationship unknown, perhaps his brother.

I didn't find them on the 1870 census, Daniel and Margaret may have both died before then.

Children of Daniel Hensley and Easter Coleman and Margaret (---). The 1830 census shows two apparent sons for Daniel, both born ca 1825/30. Neither of them have been identified yet. The 1850 and 1860 census shows four children for Daniel and Margaret.
