Green Hensley was born ca 1826/27 per his age on the 1850
census (23). He was 35 in 1860 (c1825) and 50 in 1870 (c1820). He may have been born in
Henry Co., VA where he was
living in 1850. I don't know who his parents are, but I'd guess he is a son or grandson of Lewis Hensley (1740/50). I could be off base with that but it fits. Green Hensley would have been between three and ten years old for the 1830 census. John Hensley (c1790) had two boys under 5 (c1825/30), one 5-9 (c1820/25) and two aged 10-14 (c1815/20). I don't think Green is John's son though. Nathan Hensley (c1770/75) had one boy aged 10-14 (c1815/20), and Lewis Hensley (1740/50) had two boys aged 5-9 (c1820/25). Green would have been between 13 and 20 for the 1840 census. Lewis Hensley (1740/50) was the only Hensley listed in Henry Co., VA in 1840. He had two boys aged 15-19 (c1820/25). Green Hensley married Selena (---) sometime before ca 1849, presumably in Henry Co., VA. I didn't find a marriage record for them. She was born ca 1828/29 in Virginia. I don't know her maiden name. They are listed on the 1850 census in Henry County.
They are still in Henry for the 1860 census.
They are still in Henry for the 1870 census, not listed near any other Hensleys.
Green Hensley died in the 1870's in Henry Co., VA. Salina and children were still in Henry Co., VA for the 1880 census. Again no other Hensleys were listed nearby.
I don't know when Selena died, though sometime after 1880. |
