Henry F. Hensley was born ca 1798/99 per his age on the 1850 census (51). He was born in Bedford Co., VA most likely. I don't know what his "F" initial stood for.

Henry is a proven son of James Hensley (c1763) and Sarah Hatcher. The proof is in several deeds of gift from father to son in Botetourt Co., VA in the 1820's.

Henry would have been about 11 for the 1810 census. James Hensley (c1763) might be listed on that census in Bedford. His surname is obscured, but it looks like "Hensley." In any event he has three boys under 10, so that sort of fits for Henry to be one of them if his birth date is off slightly.

By 1820 Henry would have been about 21 years old. James was in neighboring Botetourt County by then. He had 3 boys age 16-25 (born ca 1794/1804). Henry could be one of those.

On 12 Jan 1824 Henry F. Hensley obtained a marriage bond in Bedford Co., VA to marry Susan Tucker daughter of Nancy King. Willis Hensley was bondsman (his 1st cousin).

Susan L. Tucker was born 16 Feb 1803 in Bedford Co., VA. She was a daughter of Jesse Tucker and Nancy Lane (who married 2nd to Powell Ownsley and 3rd to Gilliam King, see Jesse Tucker's Revolutionary War Pension File). Susan was the first of her siblings to marry Hensleys. Sister Sophronia married Willis Hensley in 1828. Brother Granville married Nancy B. Hensley (daughter of William) in 1835. The three Hensleys were all 1st cousins before they became sibling-in-laws.

They are on the 1830 census in Bedford, but not listed near any of the other Hensleys.

Susan is on the 1870 census with another family, relationship unknown. Her name is listed clearly as "Lucien L." but I'm reasonably sure this is Susan L. Tucker Hensley. She is the only Hensley in Botetourt in 1870.

I don't know when Susan L. Tucker Hensley died, though sometime after 1880, probably in Botetourt Co., VA.

Children of Henry F. Hensley and Susan L. Tucker. The 1850 through 1870 census records prove 3 children. An 1848 marriage bond proves one more daughter (Landonia). The 1830 and 1840 census shows a daughter born ca 1825/30 who isn't identified. Another marriage bond (1848) proves daughter Margaret.
