I (Marty Grant) am not related to Henry Hensley as far as I know.
Henry Hensley was born ca 1782/83 (per 1850 census) in Virginia, probably Buckingham County (based on the earliest records found on him, showing him living in that county).
I'm reasonably sure this is the same Henry Hensley who was in Buckingham County, Virginia before moving to Warren Co, TN in the 1820's. That said, then this Henry is possibly a son of Benjamin Hensley (c1765/84) as proven by Benjamin's 1810 tax list entry showing him taxed for himself and for sons William and Henry. Since our Henry was about 27 years old at that time, it is quite probable that it was a different Henry being referred to as taxed with Benjamin, but they could be one and the same. However, the 1810 census entry (same year as the tax list) shows no older children with Benjamin, but he did have 2 sons under 10, or born ca 1800/10. It would be unusual if these two young boys were the ones he was being taxed for, as their ages don't meet the tax criteria, but it should be kept in mind that perhaps they were the William and Henry he was being taxed for (and the census record had their ages wrong). This said, then if true, Benjamin is not father of our Henry, though still probably related. There is a possibility that this Benjamin is the same as Benjamin Hensley (c1776) who later lived in Dekalb Co, TN. If so, he isn't old enough to be Henry's father.
Henry Hensley was probably home with his parents for the 1790 census, However, this census was lost for all of Virginia.
Henry Hensley was probably home with his parents for the 1800 census, However, this census was lost for all of Virginia.
Henry Hensley was listed on the 1810 tax list in Buckingham County with the tax entry of his father Benjamin Hensley who was taxed for himself and for "sons William and Henry". (See notation above about whether or not this is actually the same Henry Hensley).
Henry Hensley was listed on the 1810 census in Buckingham County, Virginia, living by himself. He was many pages away from his possible father Benjamin Hensley. Henry was listed between John Minton and William Garrot.

Henry Hensley married Martha --- between 1810 and ca 1814 in Buckingham County, Virginia. Martha was born ca 1792/93 in Virginia. I don't know her maiden name.
Henry Hensley was listed on the 1820 census in Buckingham County, Virginia. No other Hensleys were nearby.

In the 1820's, Henry and family moved from Virginia to Warren County, Tennessee. There were other Hensleys there already, though no known connection has been found (See: Allen Hensley (1794/1804), Enoch Hensley (1774/84), and Samuel Hensley (c1802) for more on them).
Henry Hensley was listed on the 1830 census in Warren Co, TN. He was not listed near any of the other Hensleys there that year. He was listed between John Blackburn and Thomas Brown.

Henry and family were still in Warren County for the 1850 census. Other Hensleys were in the county by this time, but none in the same district, or listed nearby.

Henry Hensley died ca 1855 in Warren Co, TN, per his Estate records (thanks to Laura Schreibman for sharing this). Unfortunately, his Will seems to be missing, but the estate records (inventory, etc.) show his widow to be Martha, and that "C. J. Hensley" (his son) was the administrator. No other heirs were mentioned.
Widow Martha was listed on the 1860 census in Warren County, Tennessee with daughter "Susan" living with her (I think Susan is the same person as "Eliza S." who was with family in 1850). A John Hensley (c1832) was next door with his family. This could be a son or grandson of Henry and Martha.

I have no data on Martha after 1860.
Henry and Martha had several children per the 1820-1860 census. Most are still unidentified though.
Unknown Son (1810/20). Henry Hensley had an apparent son this age. He was home for the 1820 census (age "under 10", born ca 1810/20), but gone by 1830, so possibly married or dead by then. It is also possible that he was still home in 1830, but enumerated in the age 5-9 category (born ca 1820/25). This would work if he was born ca 1820.
I have no idea who this son might have been.
Eliza S. Hensley was born ca 1813/14 (per 1850 census) in Buckingham County, Virginia. She might be "Eliza Susan Hensley", if the "Susan" who was home with her mother in 1860 is the same person, which I think is possible, and also very likely.
Eliza was apparently home with her parents for the 1820 census (age "under 10", born ca 1810/20), and still apparently home in 1830 (age 15-19, born ca 1810/15), but not home in 1840, so probably living elsewhere, perhaps as domestic help. She was back home with her parents for the 1850 census ("Eliza S." age 36). She was not home in 1860, unless she is the one listed as "Susan" age 31. I do believe that Susan and "Eliza S. Hensley" are one and the same, but there is a possibility that they are two different people.
I have no record of her after 1860.
Unknown Son (1820/25). Henry Hensley had an apparent son this age. He was home for the 1830 census (age 5-9, born ca 1820/25), and still home in 1840 (age 15-19, born ca 1820/25), but gone by 1850, so probably married or dead by then.
This could be the same person as the unknown son born ca 1810/20, if he was born ca 1820.
I have no idea who this son might have been.
Unknown Daughter (1820/25). Henry Hensley had an apparent daughter this age. She was home for the 1830 census (age 5-9, born ca 1820/25), and still home in 1840 (age 15-19, born ca 1820/25), but gone by 1850, so probably married or dead by then.
Unknown Son (1825/30). Henry Hensley had an apparent son this age. He was home for the 1830 census (age "under 5", born ca 1825/30), and still home in 1840 (age 15-19, born ca 1820/25), but gone by 1850, so probably married or dead by then. To reconcile the two ages from 1830 to 1840, this son was probably born ca 1825.
I have no idea who this son might have been.
Unknown Son (1825/30). Henry Hensley had an apparent son this age. He was home for the 1830 census (age "under 5", born ca 1825/30), but not home in 1840, so probably married or dead by then, or just living elsewhere (perhaps as a hired laborer or something).
This could very easily be John Hensley (c1832) (see below) who was living next to widow Martha in 1860. Since his 1860 age is awful close (only off by 2 years), he should certainly be considered as a likely candidate.
Susan Hensley (c1829)*. In 1860, there was a "Susan Hensley" age 31 (born ca 1828/29) born Virginia, who was living with widow Martha Hensley. She was not with Martha in 1850, nor was any daughter her age with the family in 1840 or 1830 either. Susan was not found elsewhere in 1850 either.
There are two possible explanations for this daughter. One: She is the same person as the unknown daughter born ca 1820/25 (and her 1860 age is wrong), or Two: She is the same person as Eliza S. Hensley, and "Susan" is her middle name. Either case would involve her 1860 age being incorrect.
Another possibility is that she is a widowed daughter-in-law, or a niece who came to live with the family, but I personally think she is the same person as "Eliza S. Hensley".
John Hensley (c1832)*. In 1860, John Hensley, age 28 (born ca 1831/32) born TN, was living next door to widow Martha Hensley in Warren Co, TN. It seems likely that he is related. He was not found in 1850 unless he is the same person as John A. Hensley (c1836) son of Sarah Hensley (c1818). That John is close in age, but I don't believe they are one and the same person. If this is the same person as "J. I. Hensley" found in Warren in 1880, then that census gives his birth at ca 1827/28, so that fits better with Henry's household.
Henry Hensley did not have an "extra" son that fits John's birth (as given in 1860), but that does not preclude John from being his son. It is entirely possible that John is Henry's son, but that his 1860 age is off slightly. Henry did have two unknown sons born ca 1825/30 who are unidentified. One of these could be John.
I did not find John at all in 1850 (unless, as mentioned above, he is the same as John A. Hensley, son of Sarah).
John Hensley married Mary --- before ca 1858 in Warren Co, TN. Mary was born ca 1838/39 in Tennessee. I don't know her maiden name.
They were listed on the 1860 census, next door to widow Martha Hensley.

I do not have them on the 1870 census yet.
I found a "J. I. Hensley" age 52 (born ca 1827/28) in Warren Co, TN in 1880, with wife Susy I. (c1844/45) just three houses from Carroll J. Hensley (see below). I feel reasonably sure this is the same person as John Hensley. However, if it is him, then his wife Mary had died, and he had remarried. ** I don't have this entry typed up yet.
Carroll J. Hensley was born ca 1832/33 in Warren Co, TN. He was apparently home with his parents for the 1840 census (age 5-9, born ca 1830/35), and he was home in 1850 ("Carrol J." age 17, born TN).
He was not home in 1860, nor did I find him anywhere else that year.
Carroll J. Hensley married Susan --- before 1870, possibly in Franklin County, Tennessee (where they were living in 1870). Susan was born ca 1846/47 in Tennessee. I don't know her maiden name.
They were listed on the 1870 census in Franklin Co, TN: Carrol J. Hensly-36, TN, Susan-23 TN, Artemesia 8/12 (Sep) TN. (From "Hensley Households" by Laura Schreibman).
Carroll and Susan were back in Warren Co, TN for the 1880 census, and just two houses from "J. I. Hensley" age 52, who is probably his brother John Hensley (see above). ** I don't have this entry typed up yet.
Frank B. Hensley was born ca 1835/36 in Warren Co, TN. He was apparently home with his parents for the 1840 census (age 5-9, born ca 1830/35), and home in 1850 ("Franck B." age 14).
I did not find him in 1860, or in later records.
