I (Marty Grant) am not related to Josiah P. Hensley as far as I know.

Josiah P. Hensley was born ca 1817/18 (per 1850 census) in Georgia (per 1850 ). He was probably born in Franklin County, Georgia, if I'm correct about who his parents are.

It seems very likely that Josiah is a son of Enoch Hensley and Amy Houston, but I don't have solid proof for that, but Enoch did have an apparent son his age, and Josiah did name one of his sons "Enoch", and they were neighbors in Carroll County, Georgia.

Josiah Hensley would have been about 2 years old by the time of the 1820 census, so if listed he should be in the "under 10" age group (born ca 1810/20), but his father Enoch was in Franklin Co, GA that year, and that census is lost.

For the 1830 census, Josiah would have been about 12 years old, so he should be enumerated in the age 10-14 category (born ca 1815/20), and Enoch Hensley did have two apparent sons that age, one of them likely Josiah.

Josiah P. Hensley married Martha Touchstone on 4 Nov 1839 in Fulton County, Georgia. This record is recorded in the marriages of Fulton County, yet there was no Fulton County until 1853, so I'm not sure how to reconcile this. It was part of Dekalb County in 1839, so I can only assume they married in Dekalb, now Fulton County. Martha was born ca 1817/18 in Georgia. I don't know who her parents are.

For the 1840 census, Josiah Hensley was listed in Carroll County, Georgia next door to brother Mackfield Hensley (c1810) and just a few houses from his parents.

In the 1840's, Josiah's parents and many of his siblings moved away from Carroll County, Georgia, going to Saline County, Arkansas. However, it looks like Josiah didn't desire to move so far away. However, he did move eastward into neighboring Campbell County, Georgia during the same timeframe.

Josiah and family were on the 1850 census in Campbell County. They were the only Hensleys in the county.

In the 1850's, Josiah and family moved eastward into neighboring Fayette County, Georgia, and were listed there on the 1860 census, the only Hensley family in that county that year.

I don't have them in 1870 or 1880. There is a Martha Hensley in 1880 Bibb Co, GA the right age to be this Martha, but I don't know if it is her or not.

Children

Josiah and Martha had seven children as of 1860.  I don't have much additional data on any of them so far.
