I (Marty Grant) am not related to Mary Hensley as far as I know.

I don't know Mary's maiden name, nor who her husband was. She was born ca 1809/10 (per 1850 and 1860 census) in Tennessee, county unknown.

Mary married a Mr. Hensley sometime prior to 1831, somewhere in Tennessee. I strongly suspect they were from somewhere in Eastern Tennessee, but I could be wrong about that. I have no clue as to who her husband was, nor what Hensley family he might be closely connected with.

Presumably, they would have been somewhere in Tennessee for the 1840 census since their last child was born in TN ca 1841. I found no likely matches in the 1840 Tennessee census. In 1840 Alabama, there were several Hensley listings in Cherokee County which bordered Benton County, where Mary was later. This may indicate some sort of relationship to the Macksfield Hensley family of Caswell Co, NC.

Mr. Hensley died sometime between 1841 and 1850, either in Tennessee or in Benton County, Alabama.

Widow Mary was in Benton County, Alabama for the 1850 census residing with a married daughter. They were the only Hensleys in the county.

In 1858 Benton County, Alabama was renamed "Calhoun" County.

Mary was still with her daughter's family in 1860, in Calhoun County, Alabama.

Sometime in the late 1860's, the Teagues moved to Johnson County, Texas, taking Mary Hensley with them. The Mackfield Hensley (c1810) family had moved to Johnson Co, TX before them, but I don't know of any relationship between them.

I don't have them on the 1870 census yet, but they were in Johnson County, Texas for the 1880 census. ** I don't have this entry typed up yet.

Children

Mary had two apparent children per the 1850 and 1860 census. Not too much else is known of them. See the Register Report below for more information.
