I (Marty Grant) don't know how I'm related to George Jenkins, but I'm sure he is somehow closely related to my ancestor Osborne Jenkins (c1803).
George Jenkins was born ca 1733 or before, based on his first public record dated 1754 and assuming he was at least 21 then. That year he was listed in an Onslow militia unit. I'm not sure if you had to be 21 to be in the militia, but it was the legal age for most other public purposes.
George Jenkins was presumably born in Onslow Precinct, North Carolina, though it should be noted that Onslow was not formed until 1734. Prior to that it was still part of New Hanover Precinct. ("Precincts" became "Counties" in 1739). New Hanover was formed in 1729 from Craven Precinct, so his "technical" place of birth depends on his actual birth date, though it seems likely he was born in what is now Onslow County, NC.
I don't know who George's parents were, but he is a proven brother of William Jenkins (c1733) and they were often witnesses to each others deeds and such. I would also guess that George was closely related to Thomas Jenkins (c1715) and Lewis Jenkins Sr (c1710). I doubt he is Thomas' son, because Thomas named all his children in a 1745 record. Lewis Jenkins certainly could be George's father, but he was not named in Lewis's Will.
George Jenkins is mentioned several times in the early Onslow County Court Minutes. I have not copied those records yet.
On 25 Oct 1754, a Muster list was taken of Militia members in John Starkey's company, Thomas Hicks, Captain. The list included George Jenkins, Henry Jenkins, Lewis Jenkins and William Jenkins.
On 7 Oct 1755 George Jenkins was deeded 100 acres from James Henderson. Witnesses were George Brock and Henry Rodes. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book D page 46, from Records of Onslow County, North Carolina, Vol I by Zae Harget Gwynn, and all subsequent deeds cited on this page are from this book or Vol II).
On the same date (7 Oct 1755), George Jenkins, Cooper, was deeded 100 acres on Henderson Creek by John Heidleberg, Blacksmith. Witnesses were Seth Ward and Henry Rodes. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book D page 46).
I don't have any real strong idea of when George Jenkins married, but it was probably in the 1750's or 1760's at least. He married Sarah Erickson, presumably in Onslow County. I don't know her parents, but she had brothers named: Jonathan and Andrew Erickson (as named in her Will).
On 24 Apr 1761, Jacob James deeded 100 acres to George Jenkins on the south side of New River and Lewis Creek. Witnesses were William Jenkins (brother) and Isaac James. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book F page 23).
On 9 Aug 1766, George Jenkins deeded 100 acres to William Jenkins (his brother). Witnesses were James Henderson and Henry Rhodes. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book H page 31).
On 7 Mar 1768, Jacob James deeded 110 acres to George Jenkins, described as being on the lines of William, Benjamin and George Jenkins. William was George's brother, and I think Benjamin was William's son. Witnesses were Thomas Pitts and Hannah Bond. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book H page 69).
On 4 Jul 1774, George Jenkins, James Foy and Absolum Hickerson witnessed a deed from Samuel Bond and his mother Hannah Bond to Hugh Thompson. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book J page 43).
On 5 Dec 1785, George Jenkins deeded 100 acres to Benjamin Simmons. Witnesses were Edward Simmons and Dorothy Simmons. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book O page 72).
George Jenkins was listed on the 1786 state census in Onslow near his brother William Jenkins.

In January 1788, George Jenkins deeded 150 acres to William Johnston. Witnesses were Richard Simpson and Crese Simpson. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book P page 17).
George Jenkins was listed on the 1790 census in Onslow County.

On 18 May 1790, Reuben Sanders deeded George Jenkins 50 acres on south side of New River and Lewis Creek. Witnesses were James Foy, William Wirt and Hester Jenkins (George's daughter). (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book Q page 28).
On 19 May 1790, George Jenkins, Hester Jenkins (his daughter) and James Foy witnessed a deed from Reuben Sanders of Martin County to Reuben Fuller. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book Q page 72).
On 27 Feb 1791, George Jenkins made his Will in Onslow County. He named his wife Sarah, daughter Hester, and nephew Joshua James. He named Joshua James and John Hicks, Executors. Witnesses were William Humphrey and Benjamin Ennett. The Will was proven in October 1791, so George had died by then. (Onslow Co, NC Will Book 2 page 87).
In the estate record for George, I found a record naming heirs, dated January 1793, dividing his estate two ways, part to Hesther (daughter Hester Jenkins) and to the widow Sarah Jenkins. (Onslow Co, NC Loose Estates - George Jenkins - 1791, North Carolina Archives).
On 30 Jul 1796, Sarah Jenkins, widow of George Jenkins, made her Will in Onslow County. She named her brother Jonathan Erickson, brother Andrew Erickson, sister-in-law Elizabeth, wife of Jonathan Erickson, niece Magdelen Taylor, wife of John Taylor. She named her brother Jonathan Erickson as Executor. Witnesses were John Taylor, Benejah Gray, William Frazar and John McCollough. I didn't see a probate date, but she must have lived until 1799 for that is the date on her estate file. (Onslow Co, NC Will Book 2 page 90).
Sarah Jenkins was named Administrator for her daughter Hester Jenkins' estate on 11 Jan 1798. (Onslow Co, NC Loose Estates - Hester Jenkins - 1798, North Carolina Archives).
Sarah Erickson Jenkins died before 13 Oct 1799, for on that date an Inventory of her estate was made. (Onslow Co, NC Loose Estates - Sarah Jenkins - 1799, North Carolina Archives).
In an undated deed (ca 1799), Hester and George Jenkins were mentioned when William Jenkins (George's brother) and Joshua James, Trustees for Sarah James, agreed to abide by division of property of George Jenkins, father of Hester Jenkins "and gave her the negro willed to her". Witnesses were James Foy Sr and George Shepard. I think this deed shows that Hester's inheritance went to Sarah James for some reason, but I don't know what her relationship is. She could be a daughter of Joshua James who was named in George's Will. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book U page 71).
In a deed dated 21 Jan 1801, James James sold 100 acres to Henry Mashborne, land described as formerly belonging to George Jenkins, but fell to James James, heir at law. I don't know how James James is related to George Jenkins, but he could be a son of Joshua James who was named in George's Will. The deed was witnessed by Daniel Jenkins and --- Ellis. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book V page 41).
George Jenkins and wife Sarah Erickson had one proven daughter, Hester, and she died unmarried. The 1786 state census seems to show another possible daughter with the family, but no others were named in his Will, nor Sarah's Will. A James James sold land in 1801 that fell to him as an heir of George Jenkins, but he could be a child of Joshua James named in George's Will as a nephew.
Hester Jenkins (bef 1769-1798) (All known records for Hester were quoted in her parents section above).
