Benjamin L. Watson was born ca 1805/06
per his ages on the 1860 and 1870 census (54 and
64). He was born in Brunswick Co., NC a son of
William Watson and Rebecca (---) as proven
by Williams 1845 Will. Benjamin was apparently home with his parents for the 1810 census age under 10 (1800/10), and still seemingly home in 1820 aged 10-15 (1804/10), and still home in 1830 aged 20-29 (1800/10). Benjamin married Mariah Shaw in the 1830s. She was born ca 1800/10 (per age on 1840 census). I dont know who her parents were. Her name is proven by the death certificate of her son Joseph S. Watson (1918 Robeson Co., NC). They are listed on the 1840 census in Brunswick. Father William and brother Thomas are nearby. Benjamin was on the 1860 census in neighboring Bladen County. His wife was Anna A. (---) born ca 1821/22. The apparently married between ca 1851 and 1859. I dont know her maiden name. They are just five households from John R. Benjamin L. Watson died sometime in the 1870s in Bladen Co., NC. Anna and the children are listed on the 1880 census in Bladen in Whites Creek Township: Ann A. Watson 57?; Martha M. 33 daughter; Benjamin F. 30 son; Georgeanah 12 granddaughter; Alice V (or N.) 8 granddau; Simpson G. 7 grandson. I didnt find Anna A. Watson on the 1900 census, she may have died before then. |

Martha M. Watson was
born May 1847 (per 1900 census) in Brunswick
Co., NC (presumably). She was with her parents
for the 1860 census (Martha M. age 13) and
with them in 1870 (Martha M. age 23) and in
1880 (Martha M. age 33). Martha never married but had a few children out of wedlock. She was with her daughter in Robeson Co., NC in 1900 in Sterling township: William A. Burney, head, June 1866, 33 married 12 years; Alice V. wife July 1871, 28, married 12, 6 children born, 3 living; Martha M. Watson mother-in-law, May 1847, 53, single, 1 child born 1 living; William F. Burney son July 1888 11; Earnest L. son May 1894 6; Maggie R. dau, May 1898 2. They were in Dillon Co., SC for the 1910 census in Manning Township: William R. Burney, head, 44 married once, 22 years NC-NC-NC; Alice V. wife 39 married once, 22 years, 10 children born, 6 living; Earnest L. son 16; Maggie R. dau 12; Mattie R. dau 9; Lillian C. dau 6; Chas Edwin son 2 SC-NC-NC; Martha Maria Watson, mother-in-law, 62 widowed 35 years, 4 children born, 4 living NC-NC-NC; Florence E. Alexison?, sister-in-law, 29, widowed 5 years, 1 child born, 0 living NC-NC-NC. I didnt find Martha on the 1920 census. She wasnt with her daughter Alice who was still in Dillon Co., SC in 1920. |

Benjamin F. Watson was born ca 1849/50 in Brunswick Co., NC. He was with his parents in 1860 (B. F. age 10). He was on his on 1870 in Bladen County in Whites Creek Township: B. F. Watson 20, laborer, born NC. In 1880 he was back with his widowed step-mother (Benjamin F. age 30). I didnt find him in 1900 or 1910. There was a Benjamin F. Watson age 60 in Suwannee Co., FL as a boarder with a Fralick family. Benjamin was single and born in NC as were his parents. None of the Fralicks were born in NC. This could be the same Benjamin from Bladen, but I dont know how to prove it. I didnt find him in 1920. I dont think the man in FL is the same one, but he could be. |

Joseph S. Watson was born 20 May 1851 (per death certificate) in Brunswick Co., NC. He was with his parents for the 1860 census (Joseph S. age 9). I didnt find him on the 1870 census. Joseph married Martha Ann Meshaw before ca 1873 in Bladen Co., NC. She was born ca 1852. Her maiden name is proven by the death certificate of her son Joseph Jr. (1952 Bladen Co., NC). They are listed on the 1880 census in Bladen Co., NC in Whites Creek: Joseph S. Watson, 29; Martha A. wife 28; Francis W. son 7; Willard A. son 5; William W. son 3; Joseph P. son 6 months. They are in Scotland Co., NC for the 1900 census in Laurinburg town: Joseph S. Watson, head, Aug 1857, 48, married 29 years; Martha A. wife Oct 1852 47, 9 children born, 8 living; Joseph P. son Dec 1879, 20; Minnie D. dau Jul 1881; Cina E. dau Jul 1882; Vinton C. son Apr 1888 12; Emerson C. son Jun 1889 10; Lucy L. dau Sep 1894 5. I couldnt find them on the 1910 census. Joseph S. Watson died on 6 Apr 1918 in Robeson Co., NC. I dont know when or where Martha died. |

Mary A. Watson was born ca 1859/60 in Bladen Co., NC. She was with her parents for the 1860 census (Mary A. age 6 months). I didnt find her on the 1870 or 1880 census. I dont know if she married someone or died young. |
