Revision History:

4 Nov 2008 - Created by Marty Grant.

James Watson was born before ca 1762. This is based on him being listed on the 1778 tax list. He had to be at least 16 years old to be listed. I dont know who his parents were.

James Watson was listed on the 1778 tax list in Bladen Co., NC as having to pay a pole tax (meaning one white taxable male, himself). He was in Capt Joseph Woods district. Jane Watson was also listed there, relationship unknown.

James Watson was listed on the 1779 tax list in Bladen Co., NC with one horse, six head of cattle and ₤20 money. He was in Capt Joseph Alfords district.

James Watson was listed on the 1784 tax list in Bladen Co., NC with 100 acres, one white and no blacks. He was in Capt. McNeills district. John Watson was listed in that district too, relationship unknown.

On 27 Jun 1785 James Watson witnessed a deed between James Lowery and Neill Ferguson. The land was 100 acres on Middle Swamp. Other witnesses were John Gilchrist and Archibald McMillan. (Bladen Co., NC Deed Book 1, page 4)

Robeson County was formed from western Bladen in 1786. John and James Watson fell into that county.

James Watson appears on the 1790 census in Robeson Co., NC, in fact there are two of them. I didnt find him on the 1800 census in Robeson. By 1810 there were three Jamess listed there, two of them being over age 45, born before 1765.

I have not researched the Watsons of Robeson Co., NC in any detail.

Children of James Watson. Nothing is known of any children so far.
