I (Marty Grant) am not related to Mackfield Henslee as far as I know.
This family used the "Henslee" spelling most often, though some records were with the "Hensley" or other spellings. See "Hensley Spellings" for a commentary on this subject.
Mackfield Henslee was born ca 1777/78 (per 1850 census) in Caswell County, North Carolina (also proven by 1850 census). His name was "Mackfield" (after his grandfather), but rendered numerous different ways in various records, including: Maxfield, Macksfield, Mansfield, etc.
Mackfield Henslee is a proven child of John Henslee (bef 1755) and Rachel Cantrell, as named in John's Will dated 1816. Mackfield was obviously named after his grandfather Mackfield Henslee.
Mackfield Henslee would have been about 8 years old by the time of the State Census taken 1786 in Caswell County. His father John Henslee had 3 apparent sons "under 21" with him for that census, one of them certainly was Mackfield.
The 1790 census is lost for Caswell County, but Mackfield was certainly still home with his parents that year.
In 1800, Mackfield would have been about 22 years old. His father had 2 sons age 16-25 (born ca 1774/84) with him in 1800, one of them was likely Mackfield.
On 22 Sep 1801 Maxfield Henslee obtained a marriage bond in Caswell County to marry Frances Jones. Richard Jones was bondsman. He is Frances brother. Frances was born ca 1784/85 (per 1850 census) in Virginia (per 1850 census) or North Carolina per the 1860 census. She is a daughter of John and Susannah (---) Jones as proven by his 1811 Will.
They were listed on the 1810 census in Caswell Co, NC. Unfortunately, the census taker alphabetized the listing, so I can't tell who his neighbors were, but he was listed next to father John Henslee.

On 3 Mar 1811 "Frances N. Henslee" was named as a daughter of John Jones in his Will. (Caswell Co, NC Will Book F page 173, shared with me by Laura Schreibman)
On 7 Mar 1811, John Henslee deeded 34 acres on Stoney Creek to his son Mackfield Henslee "for love and affection". Witnesses were John Pennix, Jere Lea, and William Smith. (Caswell Co, NC Deed Book Q page 256, shared with me by Laura Schreibman)
On 1 Oct 1814, Mackfield Henslee witnessed a deed from Ezekiel Jones of Montgomery Co, TN to Quentin Anderson of Caswell for land he inherited from his father John Jones, deceased, excepting the life estate of John's widow Susannah Jones. Is Ezekiel Jones a brother to Frances Jones? If so, then her parents would be John and Susannah Jones. (Caswell Co, NC Deed Book R page 426, shared with me by Laura Schreibman)
Mackfield was named as a son in his father's Will dated 20 Mar 1816. (Caswell Co, NC Will Book G page 301, shared with me by Laura Schreibman)
Mackfield was listed on the 1820 census in Caswell County. This census was alphabetical, so I can't tell who his neighbors were.

I did not find them on the 1840 census though they should have still been in Caswell County that year.
I did find them in Caswell for the 1850 census, but for some reason Frances was listed as head of household, although Mackfield was still alive and in the household with her. Perhaps this means he was incapacitated in someway. A large number of younger children were with them, presumably grandchildren, though I don't know who their parents might have been. Two of them were listed with a race of "M" (Mulatto). See my page on Ethnic Origins for more information on that subject.

Mackfield Henslee died sometime during the 1850-1860 timeframe, for he was not with Frances on the 1860 census. Frances was head of household in 1860 Caswell County.

I have no data on them after this.
Mackfield and Frances had numerous children per the various census records, but only a few are proven. In 1850 and 1860 several apparent grandchildren were with them as well, but I don't know who their parents might have been, whether a deceased son, or a daughter having children out of wedlock.
Unknown Son (1804/10) Joseph Henslee (c1804)
Unknown Son (1804/10) Azariah Henslee (1800/10)
Unknown Son (1804/10). Mackfield Henslee had an apparent son this age. He was home in 1810 (age "under 10", born ca 1800/10), and still home in 1820 (age 10-15, born ca 1804/10), but gone by 1830.
I think this could be Joseph Hensley (c1804) who was in Lincoln Co, TN later on. He fits age-wise, was born in North Carolina, and named a son "Mackfield", so it all fits circumstantially. Joseph married Elizabeth ---. See their own page for more information.
Unknown Son (1804/10). Mackfield Henslee had an apparent son this age. He was home in 1810 (age "under 10", born ca 1800/10), and still home in 1820 (age 10-15, born ca 1804/10), but gone by 1830.
I think this could be Azariah Hensley (1800/10) who was in Lincoln Co, TN later on. He fits age-wise, married in Caswell, and named a son "Mack" (probably short for Mackfield), so it all fits circumstantially. Azariah Hensley married Frances Vaughan in 1824. See their own page for more information.
Unknown Daughter (1804/10). Mackfield Henslee had an apparent daughter this age. She was home in 1810 (age "under 10", born ca 1800/10), and still home in 1820 (age 10-15, born ca 1804/10), and still home in 1830, (age 20-29, born ca 1800/10).
She was not with her parents in 1850, so she probably died or married between 1830 and 1850. There were numerous female Henslee marriages recorded in Caswell County during that timeframe, one of them might be for this unknown Henslee.
Unknown Daughter (c1810). Mackfield Henslee had an apparent daughter this age. She was home in 1810 (age "under 10", born ca 1800/10), and still home in 1820 (age 10-15, born ca 1804/10), and still home in 1830, (age 15-19, born ca 1810/15).
She was not with her parents in 1850, so she probably died or married between 1830 and 1850. There were numerous female Henslee marriages recorded in Caswell County during that timeframe, one of them might be for this unknown Henslee.
Martha J. Henslee was born ca 1814/15 (per 1850 census) in Caswell County, North Carolina. She seems to be home with her parents in 1820 (age "under 10", born ca 1810/20), and seemed to be home in 1830 (age 15-19, born ca 1810/15).
She was home with her parents still in 1850 ("Martha J." age 35, born "Caswell"), and still home with her mother in 1860 ("Martha" age 40, born NC).
Unknown Son (1815/20). Mackfield Henslee had an apparent son this age. She was home in 1820 (age "under 10", born ca 1810/20), and still home in 1830 (age 10-14, born ca 1815/20).
This could be Addison Hensley (c1820), who fits age-wise, and was nearby in Caswell County. No proof that he belongs here though. See his own page for more information.
Frances Henslee was born ca 1819/20 (per 1850 census) in Caswell County, North Carolina. She seems to be home with her parents in 1820 (age "under 10", born ca 1810/20), and seemed to be home in 1830 (age 10-14, born ca 1815/20).
She was home with her parents still in 1850 ("Franky." age 30, born "Caswell"), and still home with her mother in 1860 ("Francis Jr" age 38, born NC).
Unknown Son (1820/25). Mackfield Henslee had an apparent son this age. He seems to be home with his parents in 1830 (age 5-9, born ca 1820/25). He was not with them in 1850, so probably married and / or moved away by then.
This might be the John Henslee who married Artelia Parks in late 1840. He was the bondsman for Addison Henslee's 1843 marriage, suggesting they were brothers, so if one fits in this family, perhaps both do.
Unknown Son (1825/30). Mackfield Henslee had an apparent son this age. He seems to be home with his parents in 1830 (age "under 5" born ca 1825/30). He was not with them in 1850, so probably married and / or moved away by then.
Mary Jane Henslee was born ca 1829/30 (per 1850 census) in Caswell County, North Carolina. She seems to be home with her parents in 1830 (age "under 5" born ca 1825/30).
She was home with her parents still in 1850 ("Mary J." age 20, born "Caswell"), and still home with her mother in 1860 ("Jane" age 27, born NC).
