Noah Watson was born ca 1794/95 per his age on
the 1850 census (55). That same census listed his birth
place as Maryland. The 1860 census shows the same birth
place. I dont know who his parents were, though I strongly suspect he was a son of either William Watson (1770/74) or James Watson (c1778) for they both had a son with them that age on the 1810 census. William is the better candidate for James would only have been about 17 when Noah was born. Noah would have been about 5 for the 1800 census. William Watson did have a son that age. James Watson wasnt listed in 1800. Noah would have been around 15 for the 1810 census. Both William and James had an apparent son aged 10-15 (c1794/1800). Which one is Noah? No way to be sure without additional evidence. Noah Watson married Elizabeth (---) in the 1810s in Bladen Co., NC. She was born ca 1795 (age 55 in 1850, age 66 in 1860). I dont know her maiden name. They are on the 1820 census in Bladen Co., NC but not near the other Watsons. They are next to David Benson (see Mary Watson). 1820 census analysis (based on available evidence): (Explanation of this census) 1820 Bladen Co., NC pg 154 Noah Watson 100010-10010-0-0 Analysis: 1 male 26-45 (1775-1794) Noah Watson (c1795) 1 male 0-9 (1810-1820) Son? (Bladen Co., NC Deed Book 8, page 387) He was still in Bladen for the 1830 census, still next to David Benson (see Mary Watson). William Watson (1770/74), perhaps his father, was on the same page, but not nearby. 1830 census analysis (based on available evidence): (Explanation of this census) 1830 Bladen Co., NC pg 60 Noah Watson 2010010000000-1310010000000 Analysis: 1 male 30-39 (1790-1800) Noah Watson (c1795) 1 male 10-14 (1815-1820) Son? Children of Noah and Elizabeth
(---) Watson. They had a large family according to
the 1820 through 1870 census records. Many of the
earlier children are unproven, though some were still
home in 1850 and listed by name.
|
Unknown Son (1815-1820). Noah Watson had an
apparent son this age with him in 1820, aged under 10
(1810/20) and still home in 1830, aged 10-14 (1815/20),
but gone by 1840.
This could be John R. Watson (c1815). |
Delilah Watson (1815/20).
Her age varies widely from census to census so Im not
sure where she fits exactly. In 1850 she was 22 (c1828),
in 1860 she was 46 (c1814), in 1870 age 52 (c1818), and
in 1880 age 68 (c1812). I think she is the same
daughter listed as born ca 1815/20.
In 1820 she would be under 10 (1810/20), and in 1830 aged 10-14 (1815/20). In 1840 she doesnt seem to be home. She is with her parents in 1850 Delila age 22 (c1828). She married J. William Wilson before 1853 in Bladen. He was born ca 1809/10 and had been married previously to Marium (---) (c1805-c1850/53). They are listed on the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census in Bladen County, but not found in 1900, probably dead by then. |
Unknown Daughter (1820/25). In 1830 Noah Watson had three apparent daughters aged 5-9 (c1820/25). In 1840 he had two aged 15-19 (1820/25). By 1850 no girls that age were home so probably married or dead by then. |

Unknown Daughter (1820/25).
In 1830 Noah Watson had three apparent daughters aged
5-9 (c1820/25). In 1840 he had two aged 15-19 (1820/25).
There was an extra girl aged 10-14 (1825/30) in the
household in 1840. That could be this third daughter
(c1820/25) if born ca 1825. By 1850 no girls that age were home so probably married or dead by then. |
Unknown Son (c1825). Noah Watson had an apparent son this age. In 1830 he was 5-9 (1820/25), but in 1840 he was 10-14 (1825/30). The two reconcile fine if he was born ca 1825. He wasnt with Noah in 1850 so probably married or dead by then. |

Melvina
Watson was born ca 1828/29 per her age on the 1850
census (21). She was apparently home with her parents in
1830 aged under 5 (1825/30) and still home in 1840 aged
10-14 (1825/30). She was with them in 1850 (Melvina
age 21). She was still home in 1860 (Malvina age 25) and still home in 1870 (Melvina age 39). I dont know if she ever married, but if so it was after 1870. |
Leonard
Watson was born ca 1832/33 per his age on the 1850
census (17). He was apparently home with his parents in
1840 age 5-9 (1830/35). He was home with them in 1850
(Leonard age 17). I didnt find him on the 1860 census. In 1870 he might be home if he is mistakenly listed as Nathaniel age 36. The age fits, but not the name. Of course his full name could be Leonard Nathaniel, but keep in mind the 1870 census for North Carolina (and SC and other states too) is the worst ever for mistakes and general sloppiness. I didnt find Leonard in 1880. |
Elizabeth Watson was born ca 1833/34 per her age
on the 1850 census (16). She was seemingly home with her
parents in 1840 aged 5-9 (1830/35) and home in 1850
(Elizabeth age 16). I have no record of her after 1850. |
Eliza Watson was born ca
1838/39 per her age on the 1850 census (11). She was
seemingly home with her parents in 1840 aged under 5
(1835/40) and home in 1850 (Eliza age 11). I have no record of her after 1850. |
