Patrick Hensley was born ca 1814/15 per his age on the 1850
census (35). He was born somewhere in Virginia (per 1850 census)
probably in that part of Virginia that later became West Virginia. I don't know who his parents were. In 1850 he was next door to Alexander Hensley (c1818) and John L. Hensley (c1827). They are probably all closely related. In 1820 Patrick would have been about five years old. Several Hensleys in Cabell had at least one apparent son in the under 10 age group (born ca 1810/20): Solomon Hensley (c1779), Robert Hensley (c1777), Samuel Hensley (c1790) and Nancy (widow of Stephen Hensley). Looking at the 1830 census, Patrick would have been about 15 years old. In Cabell there was Samuel Hensley (c1790), John Hensley (1790/1800), Samuel Hensley (c1804) and Solomon Hensley (c1779) who each had at least one son aged 10-14 (c1815/20) or aged 15-19 (born ca 1810/15). Patrick would have been in his 20's for the 1840 census. Solomon Hensley (c1779) had two boys that age with him in Cabell that year, as did Samuel Hensley (c1790). Patrick Hensley married Mary A. (---) before ca 1848, presumably in Wayne Co., VA (now WV). She was born ca 1827/28 in Virginia (both facts per 1850 census). I don't know her maiden name. They are listed on the 1850 census in Wayne Co., VA next door to Alexander Hensley (c1818) and John L. Hensley (c1827).
They are on the 1860 census in Wayne Co., VA (WV) just a few houses from Solomon Hensley's widow Elizabeth.
They are on the 1870 census in Wayne County next to William Hensley (c1842), relationship unknown.
Mary A. (---) Hensley died in the 1870's, presumably in Wayne Co., WV. They are in Wayne for the 1880 census, and not particularly close to any other Hensleys.
I don't know when Patrick died, though sometime after 1880, presumably in Wayne Co., WV. |
